1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using StroopTaal ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

StroopTaal is a mobile application designed to help people living in or planning to live in the Netherlands learn Dutch. The App offers:

  • Interactive lessons based on real-life scenarios (municipality, doctor, supermarket, etc.)
  • Vocabulary games and memory exercises
  • AI-powered conversation practice
  • Pronunciation analysis and voice recognition
  • Inburgering exam preparation content
  • Document scanning and word extraction

3. User Accounts

To access certain features of the App, you may create an account:

  • Sign in with Apple: Quick and secure login with your Apple ID
  • Anonymous Usage: Device-based temporary access without creating an account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You can protect your data by upgrading from anonymous to Apple account.

4. Stroopwafel System

StroopTaal uses a virtual credit system called "Stroopwafel" for AI features:

  • Stroopwafels can be obtained through in-app purchases
  • Features like AI chat, voice analysis, and document scanning consume Stroopwafels
  • You can earn free Stroopwafels through daily login rewards and activities
  • Purchased Stroopwafels are non-refundable
  • Stroopwafels cannot be transferred to other users

5. Premium Membership

StroopTaal offers additional benefits with Premium membership:

  • Unlimited access to all lessons and scenarios
  • Daily bonus Stroopwafels
  • Ad-free experience
  • Priority support

Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store and automatically renew unless cancelled. You can manage your subscription through your device settings.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App or servers
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use automated systems or bots to access the App
  • Share or sell your account to others
  • Abuse AI features (spam, inappropriate content, etc.)

7. Intellectual Property

All content in the App, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, audio, and software, is the property of StroopTaal and is protected by international copyright laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our express written permission.

8. AI-Generated Content

Some content in StroopTaal is generated using artificial intelligence:

  • AI chat responses
  • Pronunciation feedback
  • Personalized learning plans
  • Document translations and explanations

While we strive for accuracy, AI content may occasionally contain errors. We recommend verifying important language information with official sources. The AI assistant does not replace a real language teacher.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • Specific learning outcomes are guaranteed
  • You will pass the Inburgering exam

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StroopTaal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Disputes shall be resolved in Dutch courts.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
